The short version
The app has no account and no sign-in. Your study data stays on your phone. We do not collect, store or transmit your personal data. There are no adverts, no tracking, and nothing that watches how you use the app. Two things use the network, and neither carries your study data: a purchase, described under Purchases, and the app's check for updates, described under App updates.
What stays on your phone
All of the following is written to your device's local storage and never leaves it:
- Your answers, marks and results for every mock and practice run
- Which questions you got wrong, and the questions you have saved
- Your flashcard progress and when each card is next due
- Your exam date and your daily reminder time
- Your language (English, French or Spanish) and your app settings
None of this reaches Worth Opening or anyone else. We cannot see it, recover it or restore it. Deleting the app deletes all of it permanently.
Result cards
You can share a card of a mock result: the paper, your score and the date, nothing else. The app draws the card on your phone and hands the picture to your phone's own share sheet. Where it goes from there is your choice, and nothing is sent to us. If you save the card to your photos, your phone asks your permission to add it; the app does not read your photo library to do so.
Reminders
If you turn on the daily reminder, the app schedules a notification on your phone at the hour you pick. It is handled entirely by the phone. There is no push server, no notification token and nothing sent over the network. Turning the reminder off cancels it.
App updates
When it opens, the app may check with Expo, the service that delivers its updates, whether a corrected version of its questions or screens is available, and download it if there is one. The check sends your phone's platform (iPhone or Android), the app's version and a random identifier for this installation of the app, created by the app and not linked to you. Nothing about your answers, results or study is sent. Expo's privacy policy is at expo.dev/privacy.
What we do not do
- No account, no email address, no name, no password
- No analytics on how you use the app, no usage tracking, no crash reporting
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers
- No location data
- No access to your contacts, camera, microphone or location, and your photos are never read (saving a result card only adds it, with your permission)
- No selling or sharing of data, because we hold none to sell or share
Purchases
Mock 1 is free. Mocks 2 to 20 are unlocked by a single one-off payment.
That payment is handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see your card details, billing address or any other payment information.
To check whether you have paid, and to let you restore your purchase on a new phone, the app uses RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. RevenueCat receives:
- A randomly generated identifier for your app installation, which is not linked to your name or email
- The purchase receipt issued by Apple or Google
- Your country and device platform, as supplied by the store
RevenueCat does not receive your exam answers, results or any study data.
We use RevenueCat's dashboard to see how many unlocks have been bought and in which countries. Apple's privacy questionnaire calls that analytics, so the app's App Store privacy label says so. It is counting sales, not watching you, and nothing in it identifies you. Its privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.
Apple and Google handle their own data under their own privacy policies.
Links out of the app
The Settings screen links to worthopening.wine and can open your email app to contact us. Following a link takes you out of the app and onto the ordinary web, where the destination site's own privacy policy applies.
The app can also point you to our Level 3 app on the App Store or Google Play. To avoid offering it to you if you already have it, the app asks your phone whether it is installed. That check happens on the phone and nothing about it is sent anywhere.
Children
The app refers to alcohol throughout and carries the age rating the App Store and Google Play give that content. It is made for people studying for a wine qualification and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to give you a copy of, correct or delete. If you want the data the app holds gone, use "Reset all progress" in Settings, or delete the app.
If you have bought the unlock and want your RevenueCat record deleted, email us and we will ask RevenueCat to remove it. Note that deleting it means you will no longer be able to restore your purchase.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will also appear in the app's release notes.
